Where is it? The Albacora dive center is located at the Marea del Portillo resort on the south shore of Granma province in eastern Cuba.
Getting there: International flights are offered by some all inclusive package tour operators to Manzanillo are ground transfers to Marea del Portillo are normally included in their 1 and 2-week charter packages. Alternatively independent travelers may contract taxi or rental car services to arrive in the area.

The Diving: Part of the National Park, an extensive dive area is covered from Cabo Cruz to Rio Maceo with a practically virgin coral reef. In 16 identified dive sites, you can discover tropical fish, huge sponges, black coral colonies, elkhorn/brain/leaf/star coral, sea fans and gorgonians. The greatest treasure, considered National Heritage sites, are the 17th and 18th century wrecks of Spanish galleons and British schooners from Admiral Cervera’s fleet.

Requires: presentation of international dive certification and foreign passport. Cuban nationals require previous National Coast Guard authorization to board dive vessels.
