Hotel Palacio de San Miguel
Where most other hotels of the Habaguanex chain are nestled in the narrow alleys of Old Havana, the 10-room San Miguel inn features a spanning view across the bay of El Morro and La Cabaña Fortress, right next door to the Artesan Palace. The former residence of the art-loving publisher of the newspaper ¨La Lucha¨ who settled in Havana at the beginning of the 20th century, the San Miguel retains an air of high culture. Photo reproductions from that era pepper the hotel, heightening its sense of history.
The wide staircase with wrought iron banisters is a major architectural feature Photos of the original owners – the San Miguel & Segalá family – adorn the walls. The inn’s location is ideal for exploring Old Havana on foot or easily catching transportation to other areas of Havana. Its dining terrace affords impressive panoramic views of one of Havana’s most iconic scenes.
