Hostal Los Frailes
The property
In the narrow alleys of Old Havana, the Los Frailes Hotel is just a few steps from the Plaza de San Francisco de Asis and the popular Old Square (Plaza Vieja).
The former mansion of the fourth Marquis and Captain of the French Navy, Don Pedro Claudio Duquesne, once visited by the finest nobility, ecclesiastical dignitaries, military authorities, renowned artists and the best of Cuban and foreign society has today become the perfect place to enjoy the voice of silence and meditation.
At the entrance of Hostal Los Frailes, a copper sculpture of a monk welcomes visitors inviting them into an imaginary trip to a medieval abbey. Its lobby bar, comfortable rooms and quiet courtyard, decorated with outstanding works of art, and its enigmatic and intimate atmosphere combined with the suggestive sound of the water fountain, invite contemplation and meditation in this exclusive hotel. While all the rooms are quite nice, standard rooms face the courtyard and are windowless. If you prefer a room with windows, a junior suite upgrade is required – they are slightly more spacious and face the street.
