The distinguished writer Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda (aka Tula), born in 1814, was the inspiration for the hotel’s name and the romanticism of her poetry the inspiration for the decor. Her writing focused on Hispanic-American romanticism and she’s considered one of the greatest Spanish-language poets. The boutique hotel’s rooms are arranged around a central courtyard and the colonial architecture combines with the romanticism of the works of art on exhibit on its walls.
