Where is it? About 1 hour north of Holguin in northeastern Cuba, Guardalavaca is the beach area.
Getting there: Flights into Holguin are followed by a one-hour land transfer to the hotels on the north shore. Rental cars are also an option.

The Scuba Diving: 27 dive sites are identified and the Eagle Ray Diving Center on the western tip of the beach takes you diving in the Old Bahamas Channel in sites from 5 to 40 meters with coral barriers, tall crags, cozy dales, and vertical walls.
Description of seabed: The dive zone has an extension of 30km. Some of the most notable include Canto Azul, Coral Garden, Cueva Uno and Pesquero de Esponjas with indescribable beauty presented to the diver in fauna and multicolored vistas. The underwater relief is irregular and complex in some sites, and in others the platform gradually descends with ample shapes of terraces completely covered in gorgonias, sea fans, and coral.

Note 2: If your dive destination involves domestic flight services, WoWCuba suggests keeping in mind that domestic flight schedules in Cuba are irregular and subject to last minute changes. It’s recommended not to fly within 24 hours of your last dive so avoiding planning/programming any diving on your last day in the destination is prudent.
Note 3: WoWCuba cautions travelers to avoid overbooking dive services especially on Cuba’s north shore during the winter months as cold fronts can often negatively affect planned nautical departures.

Includes: all theoretical (except for referral courses) and practical equipment, boat, dive guide, 4 dives.
Requires: Presentation of foreign passport, signed medical waiver and 2 1″X1″ photos. Cuban nationals require previous National Coast Guard authorization to board dive vessels. Divers completing Advanced (or superior) courses must present their current certification and logbook. Referral course students must bear their duly signed theory/pool paperwork for local presentation.
Notes: Total open water/advanced course time is normally 3-5 days, pending weather conditions. WoWCuba recommends a minimum of 4 nights in the destination to avoid disappointment. Referral courses involve 2 half days of dive departures, but do take possible inclement weather into consideration when forming your travel plan to avoid disappointment. If the selected destination involves domestic flights, planning for an extra night is wise. It’s recommended not to fly within 24 hours of your last dive so avoiding planning/programming any diving on your last day in the destination is prudent.
