If you want to see Cuba, going by bike on a WowCuba tour has to be one of the very best ways to do it. There’s nothing to compare with a warm breeze on your face as you ride by horses, motorcyclists and other bikers, exchanging “buenos dias!” as they go about their day. WowCuba staff are knowledgeable, helpful and good-natured. I loved getting to know the warm and kind people of Cuba and will always be grateful to WowCuba for my wonderful trip.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
It's hard to say what was the best/most memorable part of the tour because there were so many, but I think was the warmth, generosity and kindness of the Cuban people and the tour staff. To give you examples, the 93-year-old man in Banao who pulled his military medallion/medal from his pocket and insisted on giving it to me "so you always remember." And the women at the pharmacy who helped me buy something I needed when I didn't have the right amount of Cuban pesos, and they wanted me to not use my treasured "Che" 3-peso note. I went back and paid them back later, left money with staff at the pharmacy. As for the staff, Dayan and Dan's work to help me get a birthday cake for Jose, arranging to go back to the San Jose Restaurante in Trinidad so we wouldn't eat at the Soviet hotel where the food was bland; the driver Javier getting out of his bus to give me a push to get me up "The Wall," Dayan's patience and kindness as I lagged behind the group taking photos for my story and just because I wasn't as good a biker as others on the tour, and Jose's knowledge of history and sense of humor.

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
I can't think of anything.

What was the best meal of the tour?
This is hard because there were several great meals. I really enjoyed the meal and the setting at the Pina Colada restaurant, also known as "El Chino." Need to find out the name of town nearest to it.

What was the worst meal of the tour?
This was at the Soviet hotel, Brisas Trinidad del Mar. The guys made sure we didn't go back there for lunch. Even though it wasn't a great place it was still fun to be there. I kept imagining I was in the Soviet Union, so I had fun with that. The beach was good, included cocktails was nice, and the live show was over the top and unusual, with the live snake, etc.

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
I think it was the attentiveness of the tour staff.

How could the tour be improved?
I just noticed on the itinerary that on day 4 we were supposed to take a former sugar train back into town for lunch, ha. (I remember seeing that train pull in and thinking it looked too touristy.) I think that was the day when we went to the San Jose restaurant again to avoid the Brisas hotel lunch. It's cool, I like what we did. I can't think of anything to improve. Even the places that weren't perfect were interesting and fun. I don't like visiting places where everything is what you'd expect back home, or in other countries, or at a resort. In short, I like what's different.

What made you choose our organization over our competitors for this trip?
We didn't look at your competitors. We had such a great review from a friend who went on the WowCuba tour last year that we didn't feel we need to search for others.

What WoWCuba/MacQueen’s Island Tours staff exceeded or fell short of your expectations, and how?
I've mentioned that above.

Are you willing to act as a reference for potential future participants on this trip?
Yes

Can we publish your feedback?
Yes, use my initial/last name(ex. J. Smith)

I enthusiastically recommend WowCuba, and would be glad to be a personal reference. The tour was very well planned and supported, the guides were extremely competent and fun to be with, meals and accommodations were very good to excellent, and this was a great mix of group activity, individual time, biking in beautiful countryside while learning about and appreciating Cuba, in all its complexity and possibilities. The trip is very suitable for an individual, a couple or a family (we were a family of 4 with 2 grown kids, different biking levels, different interests, and all of us really had a great time). Definitely recommend WowCuba and hope to come back.

Had you been to Cuba before this trip?
Yes

a) What were your expectations of Cuba as a destination prior to making this trip?
I had been to Cuba in 1984 as part of a medical friendship exchange, focusing on the health care system. This time, we were traveling with my family of 4, with this being first-time for the other family members. A lot has obviously changed since my earlier trip, and my expectations were: 1) to have a quality group bicycle trip in the countryside (first time with a true, multi-day bike trip for my family) 2) interact and learn about current issues/ changes/realities of every day life in Cuba 3) appreciate some of the environmental and agricultural issues in the countryside 4) enjoy the food and culture

b) Did your travel to Cuba significantly change your concept of the country and how?
Yes - Very positive, friendly and open experience on many levels, including both with WowCuba group and the people and country in general. We learned a lot about the accomplishments in Cuba, but also the hardships and difficult issues, particularly around housing and job opportunities for the well-trained younger generation. I would like to return, hopefully with another WowCub tour, and also to spend more time in Cuba exploring more and helping to bridge friendships with the US.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
Great trip organization, all around can-do and upbeat spirit of the group leaders and guides, and enjoying the countryside of western Cuba!

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
Soroa was nice place to stay, but suboptimal accommodation (problem w toilets, no hot water showers in AM...) but I guess comes with the experience...

What was the best meal of the tour?
Finca La Guabina (followed by El Olivo)

What was the worst meal of the tour?
no bad meals (obviously they varied in quality a bit, but meals were much higher quality than we had expected

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
1) Meals and accommodations were both on higher level than I expected for Cuba and also for this price range for group package -- outstanding value for price. 2) The professionalism, organization and FUN of the bike trip itself 3) The bike equipment -- I had some familiarity with Specialized bikes, and knew they were good, but clearly you used relatively top line equipment, kept it in great working order, could address minor issues on the fly. The removable bike pack (for valuables) was also great.

How could the tour be improved?
1) provide local printed map with itineraries (even if some changes) - it was hard to have big picture and be oriented, especially without wireless/GPS 2) be a bit more clear about optional activities in the afternoon 3) include a formal visit to a tobacco farm and if possible to a coffee farm (may be harder in the west) 4) a bit more structured information and discussion on the bus or in group discussion 5) any way to make the registration and payment a little easier, more straightforward?

What made you choose our organization over our competitors for this trip?
1) the dates - I needed to find an organized tour for the XMAS week, and this was one of the few that fit our schedule perfectly 2) the background info on your website, including the blogs, showing good appreciation for Cuba and a lot of experience 3) the reviews that I had looked over on-line

What WoWCuba/MacQueen’s Island Tours staff exceeded or fell short of your expectations, and how?
All of the staff exceeded -- Danny and Dayan were fantastic, low-key but totally on top of everything Jorge/ guide -- was very engaged and interactive Javier - steady, pleasant and always helpful Kristen -- very responsive and helpful on email for all of the planning

Are you willing to act as a reference for potential future participants on this trip?
Yes

Can we publish your feedback?

The leaders were terrific–they were dedicated to giving us the best experience possible (riding support, tour guiding, great snacks and terrific restaurants). The trip was so well organized and thoughtfully planned that I was convinced I saw the best of everything in a week– from riding along vast farming areas to exploring national park land to encountering local people in the small towns wherever we went–this trip had it all. I believe it is the only tour where all the guides actually live there. They are either native-born Cubans or are connected to the Cuban community through living there for decades. This makes for a very authentic experience and if you had any problems, they would be the best equipped to handle it. They've been running these tours for so many years and have ironed out all the details for the most ideal routes and getting you the most exposure to the Cuban way of life.

Had you been to Cuba before this trip?
No

a) What were your expectations of Cuba as a destination prior to making this trip?
I thought Cuba was going to be a relatively flat island with a lot of beaches and palm trees.

b) Did your travel to Cuba significantly change your concept of the country and how?
Definitely. The landscape inland was varied with a lot of hills (some of them quite large) and some very dense areas of large trees, some with beautiful flowers. And despite it not being as prosperous as neighboring North American countries, a considerable effort was made by the Cuban government and its people to protect the land and invest what they could in conservation efforts. The people were very peaceful as a whole and they were patient and considerate drivers. I was never afraid of getting hit by a truck or car.

Everything about the trip was outstanding. I knocked the food down because we were required to patronize some government restaurants that by American standards weren't good. (We ate the food anyway because we were hungry after cycling). However, some of the restaurants were very good. I didn't have a lot of energy to go out in the evenings, so I can't comment on the entertainment. Some of the hotels had restricted hours for the pools (they close late afternoon) which was disappointing.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
There were several rides that were especially memorable. On the ride to Soroa, the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve was beautiful. I also liked hanging out in Soroa--the orchid gardens were enchanting to walk through--I wish we were there a second day so I could have done the hike to the waterfall. i also liked the cycling through the valley bordering the Sierra del Infierno to Pons. And last but not least, I liked cycling to Las Terrazas.

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
I didn't like cycling on routes with a lot of trucks because of the exhaust fumes.

What was the best meal of the tour?
I liked my meal at Chef Ivan Justo the most.

What was the worst meal of the tour?
I can't remember which one of the lunch places we stopped at that wasn't good.

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
The leaders were terrific--they were dedicated to giving us the best experience possible (riding support, tour guiding, great snacks and terrific restaurants). The trip was so well organized and thoughtfully planned that I was convinced I saw the best of everything in a week-- from riding along vast farming areas to exploring national park land to encountering local people in the small towns wherever we went--this trip had it all.

How could the tour be improved?
I can't see how the trip could be improved. It was simply perfect.

What made you choose our organization over our competitors for this trip?
The route seemed most interesting and the price was much better than companies like Backroads Travel.

What WoWCuba/MacQueen’s Island Tours staff exceeded or fell short of your expectations, and how?
I think I mentioned above how much I appreciated everyone giving it their best efforts--redefined what giving 100% means.

Are you willing to act as a reference for potential future participants on this trip?

It was clear in comparing different operators that WoWCuba has longstanding relationships and deep knowledge of Cuba, much more than competitors who operate globally and are just adding Cuba to their catalogs. As well, the itinerary, the level of riding, and the quality of support were a good fit for my (mid-winter!) level of fitness, as well as providing great value for the money. And your bikes are great! WoWCuba has plenty of skill, local knowledge, and logistical smarts; they will take you on the most beautiful routes, where you'll stay in great hotels and eat fantastic food. But they also have heart; the company is led by people who have deep connections to Cuba, and who have lived and worked here through hard times and good times. It is clear that for WoWCuba, Cuba is not just a shiny new business opportunity - it is a home that they graciously share with us fortunate guests.

a) What were your expectations of Cuba as a destination prior to making this trip?
I think you're really asking this question of first time visitors so I'll answer it: I was very curious not only to see Havana and the countryside, but also to understand how Cubans are managing the growth of the tourism sector, and all of the tensions and complexity that come with that.

b) Did your travel to Cuba significantly change your concept of the country and how?
Not only on the tour, but during the week after when I stayed in La Vibora, a much less tourist-focused neighborhood, I continued to be struck by Cubans' ability to open up to change while still holding tight to key values of shared progress and shared sacrifice.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
Everything was superb! But if I have to choose - the routes and landscapes of the two days we rode from La Ermita in Viñales were spectacular. Riding those routes midway through the tour, when we were all pretty comfortable on our bikes, made it possible to savor the views of the towns and fields, against the backdrop of the mogotes. The pacing and rhythm of each day were perfect for our group; even for experienced riders, I think the mileage and terrain were challenging enough without being too much. It was great to finish each ride by lunchtime, so we could hike or relax in the afternoons.

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
Nothing was really bad! The Hotel Soroa had a few problems (no running water for showers at some times when we would have liked to clean up), and their food was not so great. But these were very minor problems in context.

What was the best meal of the tour?
Dinner at the paladar San Cristobal in Havana more than lived up to its reputation! The recommended pre-tour dinner at Ivan Justo's was also excellent. On the tour, several of the lunches were especially good - pizza at El Piccolo, la Casa del Campesino in Las Terrazass...damn, the lunches all tasted pretty good, especially as accompanied by cervesas!

What was the worst meal of the tour?
Probably dinner at the Soroa Hotel - but no real complaints!

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
The trip exceeded expectations in too many ways to describe! The team, both WoWCuba and Havanatur staff, worked together seamlessly, and everybody - Danny, Dayan, Jorge, and Javier - was stellar in their skills and friendliness. The accommodations were all very comfortable - La Moka was beyond 5-star. Above all, traveling well-planned routes through the towns and countryside of western Cuba was better than I could have imagined. It is a great privilege to enjoy both the intimacy of bike travel and the comfort of impeccable logistics in this very special place.

How could the tour be improved?
Hard to imagine!

What WoWCuba/MacQueen’s Island Tours staff exceeded or fell short of your expectations, and how?
All of the staff were super. Danny consistently went above and beyond in making every stop, accommodation, and meal as good as they could be; Dayan and Jorge were fun, smart, and patient riding guides, and Javier got the bus and trailer into and out of tight spots, and kept us comfortable and on schedule. Not least, Kristen patiently answered my pre-trip questions and arranged for a great hotel stay before the tour.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
Biking memory: tough to select just one. Perhaps cresting the hill enroute to Trinidad. Hot, tired and felt very alone so whooping for joy seeing /feeling the decline commence. Non-biking: live opera flowing out of Hotel Seville as we arrived. Otherworldly.

a) What were your expectations of Cuba as a destination prior to making this trip?
I knew very little of Cuba before going and of course what I did know was highly influenced by the US media. The standard of living for most was higher than I expected. They are a poor country, but generally well educated and in good health. The best teeth of any country I have ever been to.

b) Did your travel to Cuba significantly change your concept of the country and how?
I expected to see some homelessness, and some severe poverty. I did not see either. ( Even in the back streets of Havana after the tour was finished) Vancouver should look at what Cuba is doing right.

On the hotel accommodations it is impossible to give a single rating. Some were unbelievably luxurious, and some just adequate. Everything was very well managed by the WOW staff, and although I know there were glitches , they were handled efficiently and certainly NEVER impacted our enjoyment of the trip.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
Every day had a positive memory.

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
The hill I had to walk up!! Next time I will be able to ride it.

What was the best meal of the tour?
The night before the tour started. RIO MAR, but arranged by WOW. Tied for 1st place was the SAN CRISTABAL on our last night. Generally the food exceeded my expectations everywhere. The fact that I gained weight on a bike tour is a testament to the good food.

What was the worst meal of the tour?
Can't think of one.

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
The whole trip exceeded my expectations. My wife booked it and said I was going! The group we had was super compatible, so that was a bonus.

We weren't sure what to expect. Knew it was a communist, third world country full of history and charm and we wanted to experience it before it modernized too much.

b) Did your travel to Cuba significantly change your concept of the country and how?
Absolutely. We enjoyed hearing about the history and culture, cycling through the beautiful country side and eating the wonderful food. The Cuban people we met were very helpful and had accomplished a lot despite a restrictive environment. It was a wonderful experience.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
Seeing what Cuba is really like vs what the media wants you to think. Really makes me appreciate what we have in this country very much more and value the Cuba experience. We enjoyed the tour and found staff went out of their way to give us a good experience and help us understand Cuba. Also, the group on the tour was great and really got along well. Very nice people.

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
Don't really have one.

What was the best meal of the tour?
The meal in Vinales at El Olivo- Probably the best lobster I have ever had and also Paladar San Cristibal. Food was great and what a historic building. Awesome service.

What was the worst meal of the tour?
In the government run hotels - But I understand there are very limited options in many areas

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
The staff was wonderful and we didn't expect to enjoy the Cuban food as much as we did.

How could the tour be improved?
For those of us from the US, the advice to change money to Canadian was incorrect and we lost a lot of money during the currency exchange to CUCs. When we exchanged US dollars, the exchange was much for favorable.

What made you choose our organization over our competitors for this trip?
Your many years of Experience in Cuba. I think you have been there longer than anyone and it showed with your guides obvious close relationships with so many of your suppliers.

Not knowing much about Cuba besides knowing we couldn't go there for my whole life, I had the time of my life! You should consider looking into WowCuba to see what they have to offer for trips. The Western route had a lot of variety and yes, some hills, but there were a bunch of us who walked them. The reward was a delicious feast of snacks and drink refreshments. If I could turn around and do it over again for another week, I would, but I want to go to another area and do that one. If you want to consider it, I'll go with you :)

Comments on all of the above: Travel services- Kristen met our needs and every questions asked ahead of time ; Tour Itinerary- I didn't expect as many steep hills, but Dayan was kind and changed Thursday route to avoid another steep hill :); Tour Staff - all of them were awesome :); Equipment - excellent; Accommodations - Learned the Cuban ways so flexibility was a must and it all worked out fine; Meals - some plain, some great, could use more spices and the extra offerings of Balsamic vinegars and olive oil were a great hit to help the 'salads'; Entertainment/Leisure - good to have free time to explore more on our own. All in all - a well run trip.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
Seriously, touching down on the runway upon arrival to Cuba was very significant since I felt very anxious going to the country. Once I saw how happy people were to see us from USA, then I started to relax. When the bike tour started and we saw the people and the sights, the whole package came together for me as a great experience. I can not name a 'best' part, as it was new each day

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
Leaving

What was the best meal of the tour?
My duck meal for Thanksgiving. Great veggies and good drink!

What was the worst meal of the tour?
nothing actually, maybe just needed more spices in the food for flavor.

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
I am not used to being spoiled and asked if I want more or something else or something done, etc .... this was a treat. I didn't come with any expectations because I didn't have any idea what to expect in the first place. So everything was appreciated. Starting each meal with a drink offered was quite nice. The pina colatas were yummy.

How could the tour be improved?
I have nothing to compare with, so no answer. I enjoyed it all.

What made you choose our organization over our competitors for this trip?
I didn't set this trip up initially and we heard about WowCuba through a contact.

What WoWCuba/MacQueen’s Island Tours staff exceeded or fell short of your expectations, and how?
Danny, Dayan and Jorge were great. Javier was also great and even got up early in the wee morning hours to take us to the airport. Such great service :) I was often thinking how much my son would enjoy a trip like this, yet he doesn't have the money and is 26, so would want a younger crowd!

Are you willing to act as a reference for potential future participants on this trip?
Yes

Can we publish your feedback?
Yes, use my initial/last name(ex. J. Smith)

If you wanted to persuade a friend to choose us when they come to Cuba, what would you tell them? (Please type it as if you were talking to them.)

Very well organized, good accommodations, good food, excellent service overall. The staff was very flexible and attentive to our needs. Riding through the country side is a lot of fun. Going through the towns is very interesting. The following bus is comforting as well as the lead and follow up ride leaders.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
See the country and learning about Cuba. Having 2 Cuban's as tour guides was very helpful. They provided us with a lot of inside information on how Cuba works.

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
Cycling days were short. Could have cycled a lot more.

What was the best meal of the tour?
The seafood dish I had in Vinales. One of the best meals I have had in a restaurant.

What was the worst meal of the tour?
None. The rice and beans did get a bit redundant, but the food was still good.

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
Having two Cubans as guides. If I were on my own, I never would have learned as much as I did about Cuba and the people.

How could the tour be improved?
Cycle longer each day. I did not expect to ride on the bus so much. But it was still very good. My only grip is that there was a lot of information spread out over several emails. Some of it was redundant and a very small portion was not accurate. Exit visa cost was one. The health insurance was confusing. The airport did not have a place to buy it (that I could find) and we went without it. I would suggest leaving the verbiage out of the invoice and have only 1 package with details that are up to date. The amount of verbiage I received was a bit overwhelming but I can understand why considering the destination and rules. This is not a tour issue, but I was very surprised with the exchange rate. We started with $400 Canadian and ended up with $281 CUC.

What made you choose our organization over our competitors for this trip?
This was the only one I looked at.

What WoWCuba/MacQueen’s Island Tours staff exceeded or fell short of your expectations, and how?
Exceeded. They spoiled us with attention and service.

Wow Cuba were amazing. Itinerary was great with just the right amount of difficulty for me. Tour guides so caring with the group and checked the bikes every day. They were also lots of fun, but always looking after us. Nothing was too much trouble, even going to the airport in search of lost luggage.

First two nights at Melia Havana set very high standard (no complaints!!) so a little disappointed with couple of following accommodations, but understand its Cuba and not so reliable. La Moka was lovely, as was Melia Cohiba.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
The wonderful tour guides, the attention they paid to the group, our bikes, and our safety/enjoyment. And getting my luggage back from Air France after 48 hours ... thanks to you all for keeping me calm with your reassurance and to Dany for making it happen.

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
Being bumped from lovely looking hotel in Vinales but Dany & co handled it so well and calmly that it was no problem.

What was the best meal of the tour?
Very difficult to choose as food was great everywhere (except as mentioned in next question). Liked San Cristobal very much, great atmosphere.

What was the worst meal of the tour?
Buffet dinners at replacement hotel in Vinales ... mostly cold uninteresting food.

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
Tour guides, bikes, bus driver Xavier, the organisation the care given to the group.

How could the tour be improved?
Good question, need to think about that one.

What made you choose our organization over our competitors for this trip?
You had a tour available in the limited time frame which suited me.

What WoWCuba/MacQueen’s Island Tours staff exceeded or fell short of your expectations, and how?
All exceeded expectations. And thanks to Kristen too for responding promptly to all my pre-tour issues.

I love this company and do not think you could do better. You get good value for the money spent, get to see the real Cuba and are looked after so well. I have never eaten better in my life than on WowCuba trips, despite Cuba's reputation for bland, uninteresting food. The company has sourced the best accommodations and places to eat, as well as the best cycling routes. The bikes they provide are great and there is always a technician along to solve any problems with the bikes. (This is basically what I told my four friends who came on this trip, their first to Cuba, their first cycling trip anywhere and their first exposure to WowCuba. All of them thanked me at the end of the trip for recommending it to them.)

a) What were your expectations of Cuba as a destination prior to making this trip?
I expected to experience more of what I already love about Cuba - the people, language, food, music, architecture (contrasts between decay and restoration), geography and climate.

b) Did your travel to Cuba significantly change your concept of the country and how?
I have learned a lot about Cuba on past trips and was interested to observe subtle changes in the lifestyle over the last couple of visits - more cell phones, more new cars, people hopeful of positive change.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
It was all great - the staff were wonderful, as always. The routes, accommodations and bikes were excellent. It was a really nice group of participants, without exception. We got along well and had so much fun. Several of the group expressed interest in doing other WowCuba cycling tours, or even a reunion tour!

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
Potholes and bumpy roads!

What was the best meal of the tour?
Dinner at San Cristobal.

What was the worst meal of the tour?
I can't think of any bad meals.

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
The cohesion of the group in only a week.

How could the tour be improved?
I wish it had been longer! For that reason I would like to repeat the Vuelta Cuba Tour, which I did in 2014.

What made you choose our organization over our competitors for this trip?
Past experience. I am so happy with WowCuba that I do not even want to try travelling with your competitors.

What WoWCuba/MacQueen’s Island Tours staff exceeded or fell short of your expectations, and how?
Danny really makes these tours. He works so hard, is always pleasant and fun, solves every problem and makes the participants feel that we are in safe, competent hands. Javier is a bus driver par excellence and also such a nice man. Dayan is delightful and very competent and hard-working as well. I love them all! It is also great for my partner, Gerardo, to have them as friends. He is much more relaxed and happy in their company where he doesn't have to strain to communicate in English.

Go with WowCuba. They've been doing these tours for over 20 years. They totally know what they're doing. They have relationships throughout the country - when we'd go to a restaurant, invariably the owner would come and kiss or hug Danny. They're knowledgeable about bikes and cycling - Danny has worked with bikes since he was a kid. They go the extra mile - they really take care of their guests, even baking birthday cakes, ensuring there's good wine at dinner, introducing us to Cuban specialties. Between their expertise in cycling, knowledge of Cuba itself, and caliber of service, you can't go wrong.

a) What were your expectations of Cuba as a destination prior to making this trip?
I honestly didn't think that much about it. I guess I thought the country would be hot and poor.

b) Did your travel to Cuba significantly change your concept of the country and how?
Yes. The country is beautiful; the people are very nice; Havana is super-interesting; the food was good; it's inexpensive; there's music on every corner.

What was the best/most memorable part of the tour?
It's hard to choose one thing. Danny, Dayan, and Jorge were all so nice and knowledgeable and provided great service - whether it was something to do with the bikes, the route, our accommodations, post-tour issues - they addressed it. The group got along really well. There was enough cycling every day and also time for other activities. The countryside was beautiful, the weather was perfect, the roads for the most part were in good shape.

What was your least favorite part of the tour?
Some of the hotels were not great, especially the one in Soroa, but it's Cuba and outside of Havana it's not like we had unlimited options. I had read reviews of all the hotels on TripAdvisor so nothing really took me my surprise, although I was not thrilled with some of the showers where the water just came out in a trickle (actually I think that happened just about everywhere outside of Havana).

What was the best meal of the tour?
The last night in Havana.

What was the worst meal of the tour?
Nothing was bad.

What part of the trip exceeded your expectations?
All of it!!!! The leaders, the level of service, the beauty of the country, the quality of the bikes.

How could the tour be improved?
The one suggestion I have is to somehow allow for more time in Havana. I think everyone in the group either arrived a day or so before the trip started, and/or was staying a few days after the tour ended, so either way people could explore Havana on their one...but even so, it would have been nice on the last day to have had some more time there. Maybe not include a group lunch on the last day; just return to Havana and give the group free time from noon until the farewell dinner to spend time in Havana for shopping/more sightseeing/whatever. Also, on several days we had long bus rides after cycling and it was kind of gross to still be in our cycling clothes; maybe suggest that people pack a change of clothes in their day packs so they can change when they're done cycling for the day (assuming they can find a place to change).

What made you choose our organization over our competitors for this trip?
I think when I searched for "Cuba cycling trips" WowCuba was the first name that came up. I was impressed by the fact that you've been doing these tours for 20+ years and I felt the price was reasonable. I did not even explore other options.

What WoWCuba/MacQueen’s Island Tours staff exceeded or fell short of your expectations, and how?
Danny, Dayan, Jorge, and Xavier all exceeded expectations. As mentioned previously, they have a strong service orientation, great sense of humor, they're very knowledgeable about Cuba, they did a great job fitting/maintaining the bikes, they gave great (and for the most part accurate) route talks; Xavier even came to the hotel at 3:30 AM the last day to take some of us to the airport; they moved swiftly to resolve problems when they arose...I could go on and on.

Are you willing to act as a reference for potential future participants on this trip?
Yes

Can we publish your feedback?
