We've been involved in the Cuban tourism industry since 1994 and presently work with Havanatur as our principal ground handler in Cuba.

About Our Staff…
Gordon |
Company founder who pioneered guided bicycle tours of Cuba in 1994. With family roots in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, Gordon and family moved to the Island from Cape Cod in 1976. Gordon owns MacQueen's Bike Shop (our Charlottetown retail bicycle store) and MacQueen's Island Tours, our adventure tour company. Gordon's very adaptable; he grew up in the age of the penny farthing (pictured) but now prefers the Bionx, a battery assisted bike.

Kristen & Abel |
Kristen's been working in Cuba as our company representative since 1994. After marrying Abel in 2001, she has made Havana her year-round residence. Since then the two have been diving, sailing, cycling and exploring all corners of Cuba together. Kristen is our Cuba office manager overseeing all operations and troubleshooting for our clients in Cuba, diving sales, Caribbean flights to Cuba, as well as overseeing www.wowcuba.com and www.wowcubatravel.com web content and design.

Abel attends to the clients of our www.wowcuba.com (Spanish version) website. An adventurist at heart, Abel is a specialist in the following activities in Cuba: fishing trips, sailing charters, scuba diving, and cycling. His latest project: restoring a 1949 Harley Davidson flattop. He thinks he's going to enjoy riding it lots....we think he's going to become good friends with his mechanic!!!

Danny |
Danny pioneered our Cuban cycle tour operation in 1993 and has been traveling between Cuba and Canada ever since, managing MacQueen’s Bike Shop in Prince Edward Island in the summer months and acting as tour leader and host extraordinaire to adventurous Cuban cycle tourists in the winter. Not only is Danny one of the best bicycle mechanics around, his easygoing nature makes our guests wonder how he is able to juggle everything that is thrown his way on tour and still make it look like child’s play. A die-hard cycling enthusiast, Danny strives to please, and the amount of positive feedback and repeat visitors received by WoWCuba attest to the success of his efforts.

Mirley |
Former member of the Cuban national cycling team and multiple Panamerican cycling medalist, Mirley is the latest WoWCuba cycle tour leader. Mirley's not new to the company - she and Danny met in 1999 and since then they have been touring Cuba and Prince Edward Island together. Since marrying in 2004 Mirley and Danny and their daughters Alexandra and Alicia divide their time between Canada and Cuba. Mirley lends not only excellent cycling and mechanical experience to our tours, but she's also a terrific salsa instructor and masseuse.

Kelley |
Kelley is an annual addition to our Vuelta Cuba tour, acting as assistant tour leader to her older (and questionably wiser) brother Danny. Besides being a cycling enthusiast, she's taken the 4 week Spanish course at the University of Havana and continued with Spanish instruction at UPEI, and gracefully made it through her Salsa lessons without injury. She continues to provide support for our Prince Edward Island bicycle tours in the summer, operates a successful spin studio in our Charlottetown headquarters in the winter months and even finds time to keep a parttime job as a customer service rep with Westjet (she loves the side benefits). She's the pleasant one in the bunch.

David
moved to PEI in 1971 first visiting Cuba in 1995 and has since travelled extensively throughout the country. His knowledge of Cuban hotels and various destinations provide an important role in our WoWCuba Canadian office. David is also in charge of print advertising as well as all aspects of our PEI cycle tours.

Maria |
The latest addition to our Canadian office sales staff, Maria moved to PEI from Cuba in 1996. She offers telephone assistance to many of our Spanish-speaking clients as well as preparing travel quotations for all WoWCuba requests. Her love for her homeland has never diminished and she returns whenever possible with her husband, Gabino and son, Gabriel. Maria is from Artemisa, in the Pinar del Rio area of Cuba.
