Guantanamo Province |
Of course, Guantanamo is probably best known for the US naval base occupying the bay, and few know that there is actually a small hotel which overlooks the site. But the true gem of Guantanamo is Cuba's founding city, Baracoa. Christopher Columbus considered it the most beautiful land he'd ever seen. Black sand beaches, wonderful flora and fauna including many species of parrots, extraordinary archaeological sites, Cuba's most winding mountain road La Farola, cones of sweetened coconut and homemade chocolate are just a few of the enchanting features of Baracoa and its surroundings. |
