On the corner of Obispo and Mercaderes Streets in the heart of Old Havana stands the Ambos Mundos Hotel, a building of eclectic architecture built in the late 20s.
At the beginning of the 1930s, the North American writer Ernest Hemingway stayed in the hotel while writing the first chapters of "For Whom the Bell Tolls". About the hotel he stated "...it was a good place to write...". Nowadays the inn is still "a good place" for lodging with its accommodations ideally-situated for admiring Habana Vieja and enjoying the warmth and values that Cubans offer their visitors.
