Jardines de la Reina - The Queen's Gardens Where is it? Jardines de la Reina , or the Queen's Gardens, is located approximately 40 miles off the southern central coast of Cuba in an area designated as a Cuban National Park . Getting there: Access to the Jardines de la Reina is by boat from the small fishing town of Jucaro on the mainland. The most expedient way of arriving to Jucaro is usually by surface transfer from Havana . The transfer departs early in the morning (usu ~ 05:00) and is roughly 7 hours in duration. From Jucaro, your nautical transfer to the fishing zone is in fast, comfortable boats and takes approximately 2-3 hours. We also offer domestic flights from Havana to Cayo Coco, plus ground transfer to Jucaro, but we have found that the ground transfer takes about the same amount of time all tolled, without the risk of flight delays. The Fishing: The Jardines de la Reina is today perhaps the finest light tackle fishing to be found anywhere in the Caribbean. Not only does the area offer some of the best flats fishing in the world for fly fishermen, but anglers using spinning and bait casting tackle catch a wide variety of fish along the reef. It is not uncommon for anglers to catch more than twenty species of fish in just several days. Huge groupers, snappers, horse eye jacks and jack crevalle, barracuda, sharks and other blue water fish abound. As part of the National Park, there is no commercial fishing in this exclusive area, which covers nearly eighty miles. Neither is there any habitation of any kind on any of the islands in the National Park where the fishing operation is located. This is a huge expanse of saltwater wilderness, perhaps the last place of its kind remaining in the world today. Accommodations: There are several accommodation options for fishing & diving guests in Jardines de la Reina:
